ABOUT US.

Get to know our story.

How it all started.

Modern life brings with it constant busyness, and screens are becoming more and more central in our lives. Stress, anxiety, and low productivity are often the result of an overcrowded life.

As four students with a passion for design and innovation, we knew that plants do more than just decorate a space, they can also improve wellbeing. They reduce stress, lower anxiety levels, and increase productivity. But we also saw how difficult it can be to take care of plants in a busy life: too much water, too little, root rot… so many complications.

We did research, lots of research. And what we discovered was surprising. Not only did many people struggle with plant care, but nearly half of all households dealt with incorrect humidity levels in the home. This also had a direct impact on our wellbeing, productivity, and health.

We never really realized it, but the air in our homes is often too dry. We could feel it on our skin, in our irritated airways, and in the frequent colds. During the winter months, humidity would sometimes drop below 30%, making viruses spread faster and our plants dry out more quickly.

That was the moment we decided: there has to be a way for plants to care for themselves and simultaneously improve the air quality in the home.

From an idea to a mission.

And so, Tanbo was born. A self-sustaining plant holder that does more than just water plants.

Our journey started small: sketches on paper, experimenting with materials, and endless conversations with people, botanists, and designers. Our mission was clear: develop a plant holder that regulates itself. No electricity, no complicated installation. A product that is not only functional but also aesthetic and soothing.

Every version of our design was tested, adjusted, and retested. We didn’t want to just create a product; we wanted to create a solution that would truly make a difference in people’s lives.

Why the name Tanbo?

The name ‘Tanbo’ is inspired by the Japanese word for ‘rice field, because rice fields have the same structure as our product and therefore regulate themselves.

Our values as creators.

Every detail of Tanbo has been carefully designed to be both aesthetic and practical. The ceramic version fits in any interior, while the stackable system perfectly adapts to the needs of your specific plant.

We make plant care simple so you can enjoy it without worry. Adding water once a month is all your plant needs. Tanbo takes care of the rest.

In a world full of distractions, Tanbo provides calm. The presence of plants reduces stress and anxiety, while increasing humidity promotes better focus and productivity

Maintaining a proper humidity level between 40% and 60% helps reduce dry skin, improves breathing, alleviates dry eyes, and reduces the risk of colds and flu. It also reduces the spread of viruses in the air

Future of Tanbo.

We see a future where Tanbo is not just a product, but a natural part of every home. Not loud or obtrusive, but subtle, elegant, and always supportive.

We continue to listen, test, and improve. With one goal: to make your wellbeing simple. No excess. No technology. Just as nature intended.

Your moment of peace.

In a world that’s always on the go, Tanbo is our invitation to pause for a moment. To breathe. To enrich your environment with greenery, without the extra work.

Tanbo is for those who value simplicity, design, and wellbeing. For those who want plants without the worries. For those seeking a moment of peace in the everyday.

We believe that wellbeing starts in your own environment. And with Tanbo, it doesn’t have to be complicated.

Let nature do its work. And experience the peace Tanbo brings.
